Today I had the opportunity to tour a hospital that I will be working at until December! It is San Joaquin Hospital! I will be working on a medical-surgical floor! A day in the life of a med-surg nurse is as follows: advocating for patients; communicating with staff, family, and peers; verifying orders;starting IV's, administering medication;wound dressing changes;bed baths;answering questions;blood draws;continually running after alarming IV pumps! There are many other tasks that a student nurse accomplishes during a med-surg shift. I will start Thursday which I am very excited about! I am used to getting 2 patients and we were informed today that we will be getting 4 patients! Also we are doing computer charting! I have never done that so it will be quite hectic at first learning their computer programs! That was the exciting part of my day!
In other news, I have had a lot on my mind spiritually. Last night in church my pastor preached about the grace of God and how when we are in in our lowest point and we fall into temptation and the little voice in our head is saying, "you shouldn't get involved in that" that that is the grace of God! I have been in that very place! When temptation comes my way God always has a way of letting me know that it is wrong and that there are consequences that will follow! I pray that I will continue to let God speak to me and increase my convictions because my ultimate goal in life is to be saved and make it to heaven! I am so thankful for the grace of God that reminds me from day to day that I have a chance to be saved and have a walk with God even in my lowest hour! I'm thankful for the grace of God!
